Day 6: Cooler Weather

Aiden shivered as the wind penetrated through his clothes and flesh right down to his bones. He pulled his hat further down onto his head and stamped his feet. He looked over to the car in the middle of the car park and his shadows confirmed that his apprentice was doing exactly as she had been told.
Why did everyone insist on having water nearby whenever they asked for a meeting with the Shadow Committee? Shadow mages hate water!
He shivered again, wrapping his arms around him then looked up as the car lights flashed twice. He stood straight and heard his shadows inform him that his contact was here.
A scowling man approached. “Here.”
Aiden took the file from him, gave the man a small bag then watched the man walk away.
“What's that file?” Raven asked, looking up at her mentor as he got back in the car.
“None of your business,” he said, quickly flicking through the file. “You're not ready yet.”
She shrugged and started up the car, more determined than ever to finish her apprenticeship and join the espionage service.
